National media outlets high on Georgia players, schools

Georgia baseball annually garners the attention of professional scouts and college recruiters and many state schools annually rank among the best in the country.

The 2020 season won't be any different as a handful of national media outlets have released their preseason polls and All-American teams.

Perfect Game has four state schools ranked in its Preseason High School Top 50. North Gwinnett leads the way at No. 4, while two-time defending Class 7A state champion Parkview is ranked 10th. Class 5A power Buford is No. 31, while Class 6A preseason favorite Houston County is ranked No. 37.

Three schools landed in Collegiate Baseball Magazine's preseason rankings. Parkview is No. 7, while three-time defending Class 5A state champion Loganville is No. 16. North Gwinnett is No. 23.

Meanwhile, a wealth of state prep players were named to Collegiate Baseball's Preseason All-America team.

Decatur's Jordan Walker was named to the first team as a multi-position player. Other first-teamers included Parkview pitcher Xander Stephens, North Gwinnett catcher Corey Collins and Mill Creek catcher Alek Boychuk.

Parkview pitcher Miles Garrett was named to Collegiate Baseball's second team.

Collins and Walker were named to MaxPreps' Preseason All-American team.
