Mays High School standout Termarr Johnson went No. 4 overall to the Pirates.

 

Georgia well-represented in MLB Draft

Georgia is known for its top-notch baseball talent. It was evident in the first round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft held Sunday, July 17.

Wesleyan High School standout Druw Jones went No. 2 overall to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Meanwhile, former North Oconee High School and Vanderbilt star Kumar Rocker went No. 3 overall to the Rangers, while Mays High School standout Termarr Johnson went No. 4 overall to the Pirates. Three of the top four picks were Georgia players.

Georgia Tech catcher Kevin Parada went 11th overall in the first round to the Mets, while Buford High School pitcher Dylan Lesko was taken 15th overall in the first round by the Padres.

Former Mount Paran Christian School standout Cam Collier was taken 18th overall by the Reds. Collier played just one season at Chipola (Fla.) College.

Former South Forsyth High standout Landon Sims was taken in the Competitive Round A at No. 34 overall by the Diamondbacks.
